What is Metal?

A metal (from Greek μέταλλον métallon, “mine, quarry, metal”) is a material that, when freshly prepared, polished, or fractured, shows a lustrous appearance, and conducts electricity and heat relatively well. Metals are typically malleable (they can be hammered into thin sheets) or ductile (can be drawn into wires). A metal may be a chemical element such as iron; an alloy such as stainless steel; or a molecular compound such as polymeric sulfur nitride.

What is copper scrap?

Copper scrap comes in a variety of grades and variations, which are utilized for recycling and recovering pure copper. Copper wire, tubing, roofing copper, and copper pipe are examples of post-consumer items that can be processed into refined metals and alloys from the copper scrap.

How do we process copper scraps?

These secondary copper components of copper scrap are melted in furnaces during the recycling process, and then further treated and purified. Copper and its alloys recycling from copper scrap is an important part of the economics of manufacturing, and it has been done since the beginning of the copper industry. Scrap copper of high purity that has not been polluted by other metals can be used to manufacture a high-quality product. Similarly, if copper scrap is maintained separated and only contains one alloy composition, it is easier to remelt into a high-quality product that meets industry standards.
